About Mike

II help companies punch above their weight and outmaneuver competitors with deeper pockets and louder megaphones.

Backed by three decades of experience across Fortune 50 enterprises and growth-stage tech disruptors, I combine enterprise-scale operational rigor with startup agility to help organizations sharpen product-market fit, differentiate in crowded spaces, and shape industry narratives.

NOTABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Twice helped define and scale emerging infrastructure categories, including Alternative Cloud (contributing to nearly $1B in transaction value) and Distributed Cloud (creating the narrative that repositioned a 25-year-old incumbent for the AI era).
  • Led communications strategy for three acquisitions, including Linode’s $900M acquisition by Akamai and Alcatel-Lucent’s acquisitions of ProgrammableWeb and OpenPlug.
  • Launched the Plan 9 operating system created by Turing Award winner Dennis Ritchie and his team at Bell Labs.
  • Led external and executive communications for multi-billion-dollar business units inside Fortune 50 powerhouses, navigating the complex stakeholder matrices of IBM, AT&T, and Alcatel-Lucent.
  • Counseled founders and CEOs of 25+ early-stage companies (Angel to Series B), building communication engines that led to high-value exits for brands like Cloudability (acquired by Apptio) and Mashery (acquired by Intel).
  • Crafted foundational storylines for purpose-driven, social impact/ESG companies, including Queen of Raw (resulting in a $360k WeWork Creator Awards Grand Prize), NameCoach (name pronunciation), and Dhaxle (immigrant investment).
  • Orchestrated the rebrand of a global open-source software foundation, working closely with the organization’s CEO to align some of the world’s largest technology stakeholders under a unified mission.
  • Partnered with C-Suite, HR, and Legal to lead high-stakes crisis communications and issue management, including responding to the global pandemic shutdown.
  • Co-founded a global network of corporate change agents.

I’m the host of the Craft of Code and co-host of the Bald Guys on Bikes podcasts.

An image I created was used as the backdrop for the title sequence in a documentary directed by two Oscar winners.

I also once stood on the SNL stage with Chris Farley.
